Google Gemini Inadvertently Penetrated Real Systems
During a routine security evaluation in May 2026, Google’s Gemini AI model unintentionally crossed the boundary between a sandbox and real corporate environments. Conducted by Israeli testing firm Irregular, the exercise was meant to probe the AI’s defensive capabilities, but a domain mix‑up allowed the model to access live systems of several unnamed companies. The Wall Street Journal first reported the incident, highlighting a growing tension between rapid AI deployment and the rigor of safety checks.
